Paint Color Review
Benjamin Moore

White Dove OC-17

If you’ve been searching for a white paint color that feels soft and warm, Benjamin Moore White Dove is probably on your short list. It’s one of those go-to shades of white that designers like me use over and over again.

Whether you’re repainting a single room, searching for a color for your kitchen cabinets, or just want a whole house shade of white, White Dove is a beautiful option worth considering.

Let’s take a closer look at why this color is such a favorite.

About White Dove:

Benjamin Moore White Dove (OC-17) is a warm white with an LRV of 85. This puts it in the light range and means it reflects a lot of light but is not a super bright white.

It has just enough softness to feel cozy but still reads clean. This makes Whtie Dove one of the most versatile white paint colors and one of my top picks!

Is White Dove a cool or a warm paint color?

White Dove is definitely a warm white. There’s a touch of yellow to the undertone which adds softness mixed with a just a hint of gray to tone things down. This mix keeps White Dove from looking too creamy.

What colors pair well with White Dove?

One of the best things about White Dove is how many colors it pairs well with. Here are a few of my favorite pairings:

Warm neutrals:

White Dove is the perfect soft contrast for earthy and warm neutral colors. One of my current top pairings with White Dove is Benjamin Moore Silhouette 2026 Color of the Year.

Darker accents:

For a bolder contrast, mix White Dove with deeper colors such as Benjmain Moore Kendall Charcoal, Benjmain Moore Chelsea Gray or Sherwin Williams Iron Ore.

Light and airy complements:

For a lighter look, White Dove works great with blues and greens such as Benjmain Moore Woodlawn Blue, Hollingsworth Green or Beach Glass.

Whether you're creating a neutral palette or adding contrast, White Dove handles it beautifully.

Choosing Trim Colors That Complement White Dove

If you are using White Dove on your walls, here are a few trim colors that will pair beautifully!

Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace is crisp and clean for subtle contrast

Sherwin Williams High Reflective White is another clean white that will add just a hint of contrast when paired with White Dove

White Dove (same color)! This creates a seamless look when you change the sheen instead of the color. Bonus is that there will be zero issues with conflicting undertones.

Sampling White Dove: What You Need to Know

Sampling is so important with any paint color, but even more so with white paint! The reason is that undertones can shift a lot depending on lighting and other colors in a room.

Here’s how to sample White Dove:

Use large peel-and-stick samples. Samplize makes this easy and affordable!

Look at the sample throughout the day as the light changes.

Move the sample around to see it next to floors, countertops, tile, and cabinetry.

Try to avoid looking at the color directly on top of an existing color. This throws off the undertones especially with white!

Pros and Cons

Pros

· White Dove looks soft and warm, rarely ever stark!

· Works well in almost any room

· Great for walls, trim, or cabinets

· Plays nicely with lots of other colors so long as they are not too cool

Cons

· White Dove can look a bit creamier in low light.

· May feel too warm next to cool, blue-gray finishes
