Behr’s Blank Canvas is a soft off-white shade that has gained a lot of popularity after being named Behr’s Color of the Year. The color is balanced, creamy, and versatile without drifting into yellow or feeling stark. Think of Blank Canvas as fresh backdrop with just enough warmth to feel welcoming.

This is a shade of white that supports a wide range of styles from minimalist to farmhouse to traditional.

Behr Blank Canvas (DC-003) has an LRV of 84. This makes it light enough to brighten a space, but not so light it feels stark.

Blank Canvas strikes an ideal balance of cozy and clean making it a flexible, go-to white making it one of my favorites in the Behr color line.

Blank Canvas leans warm, but gently so. It has a subtle creaminess without leaning too yellow, giving it a cozy feel while still looking fresh. 

Blank Canvas looks beautiful with warm wood tones, earthy neutrals, modern black, and soft muted colors. Additionally, it can also can up to bolder accents such deep greens, navy, terracotta, and charcoal and create a striking contrast.

A few recommended color pairing options:

• Soft neutrals: Taupe colors, warm beiges and muted greens all lean into the undertones of Blank Canvas for a slight bohemian look.

• Earthy tones: Terracotta shades, clay colors, warm earth tones all play well with the warmth of Blank Canvas.

• Deep and bold accents: Charcoals, navy blues and deep greens such as Behr’s Hidden Gem (another of Behr’s color of the year winners) work well for a strong contrast.

Blank Canvas works in almost any room where you want a soft, welcoming backdrop. Blank Canvas is an ideal choice for walls, cabinets, and built ins.

Living rooms: Adds warmth and sit quietly as a backdrop without overpowering décor.

The flexibility of Blank Canvas makes it a strong whole-house paint color choice.

Behr Polar Bear is my top choice if you want a trim color also from Behr. Polar Bear is crisp and bright but with just enough warmth to pair well with Blank Canvas.

Sherwin William Pure White is another great trim color to consider. Clean yet warm, and light enough to create contrast between Blank Canvas on the walls and Pure White on trim.

Sampling is always key with whites! Light and context change everything.

· Try painting a large sample board (white poster board is inexpensive) and move it around your home throughout the day.

· Check the color against flooring, tile, stone, and cabinetry.

Blank Canvas is incredibly adaptable, but it still reacts differently depending on your lighting, other colors and materials.
